TO ALL STUDENTS’ OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BENIN:
This is to inform the general public, especially the students of the University of Benin, that the university management has fixed the resumption date for the 2016/17 academic session to September 22nd, 2016. “The new date was finally agreed upon by the senate committee during the last senate meeting held on Tuesday, 3oth September, 2016 at the university’s senate chambers”, a close source disclosed.
When contacted for further clarifications, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university’s Students’ Union Government, Hon. Ikotu Gideon Kelechi, told our newsmen that the report is true.
On his part, “a WhatsApp broadcast (message) was sent earlier on, regarding the resumption date”. One of the broadcast (as seen by our reporter) reads thus;
“Greetings Great Minds, behold the long awaited news…
As at this morning, it was officially confirmed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), that in line with the adjusted calendar, school officially resumes September 22nd, 2016.
Consequently, old students are to return to campus September 22nd; while lecture commences September 26th, 2016”.
ON HOSTEL APPLICATION…
“Update on hostel application will be made public immediately it comes up”, he added.
ON THE UNIVERSITY’S ADMISSION LIST…
An unconfirmed report has it that the admission list is ready and sent to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for upload. The report further stated that the first batch is expected to be out at most first week of September.
Consequently, all prospective students have been advised to keep checking the university’s website for any update or the university’s students portal to access their admission status online, once released.
